An annual publication created to celebrate black male educators across the country.Mission: UpLIFT is dedicated to celebrating black male educators across the USA - For Us, By Us - Combining vivid visuals and reflections in combating oppressive experiences through an innovative affinity movement.
|
Why UpLIFT?
In the field of education there are currently about 80,000 black male educators and 114,000 schools.
Despite recent research that shows that black educators have a significant impact on the lives and life trajectory of our students in particular, black students. UpLIFT was designed to celebrate the work of black male educators to off set the many oppressive experiences that black men face in the education sector. The publication reminds and affirms us that we have a very rich and full history that has significantly contributed to the field of education. |
"Black educators continue to jump high hurdles and break down formidable barriers to ensure Black representation in the field of education. The inaugural cohort of UpLIFT is a testament to the power, perseverance, and spirit of a Black community dedicated to maintaining our rightful place in the education of American society."
- Dr. Tracey A. Benson Forward, Inaugural Issue of UpLIFT & Author, Unconscious Bias in Schools |

Our Origin
UpLIFT is an annual publication originally created by Ideation4 as an innovative product and is now produced by the UpLIFT Movement, a new nonprofit based in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Established as SJC Consulting, LLC in 2016, and now doing business as, Ideation4, is driven to explore economic opportunities for under resourced communities through grant writing workshops, coaching, consulting and innovation. Simply put, we focus on helping Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) who are community builders across education, business and the nonprofit sectors by connecting their ideas to resources, through our educational consultation. Both organizations are dedicated to addressing inequities across the fields of education, business & philanthropy to impact and build community. |
